On October 1, 1978, the American Planning Association emerged from the consolidation of the American Institute of Planners and the American Society of Planning Officials. The American Planning Association provides leadership in the development of vital communities by advocating excellence in planning, promoting education and citizen empowerment, and providing the tools and support necessary to meet the challenges of growth and change.

DC Semester: Spring 2011
School: Georgia Tech
Type of Internship: Nonprofit Organization

As a student from Georgia Tech, I was a bit of an unlikely person to attend the Washington Semester Program. I am happy to say that my time with 19 bulldogs was well spent. The program provided such hands on experience that is truly irreplaceable, and my subsequent internships and careers would not have happened without it.
