Founded in 1974, the Student Press Law Center is the nation's only legal assistance agency that's purpose is to educate high school and college students interested in journalism about First Amendment law. The SPLC supports student news media in their efforts to cover issues without being censored by the powers at be. The SPLC also provides free legal advice and information in addition to low-cost educational materials for students. The SPLC runs an Attorney Referral Network comprised of almost 150 lawyers around the country who provide legal representation to local students when necessary free of charge. Interns can work in traditional news or in social media and are given a stipend.

My aspirations to be a veterinarian/choreographer to the stars didn’t pan out, so I figured I’d give writing a go. Besides being in love with writing copy, I found my adoration for the communicative arts. So I thought it might be a good idea to attend the second best journalism school in the country…conveniently located in my backyard.

Now, as a fourth-year magazine journalism student in the Grady School of Journalism, I am taking full advantage of what they have to offer. My passion as a writer has cultivated itself in the Chapel Bell: A Positive Press Publication at the University of Georgia. As a member — and current editor — of the writing team, I’m fortunate enough to publish happy, relevant articles that are changing the way we think about news.

I also love my work as a freelancer and subcontract writer for McRoberts Communication. I’ve been lucky enough to write for some remarkable clients like Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the Strong4Life Campaign, the MARS company and Georgia Military College.

But most of all, I love traveling, cooking and adventuring.
