WSP Alumni Jill Puente and Arthur Tripp Jr. named to UGA’s 40 Under 40

Two WSP Alumni, Jill Puente and Arthur Tripp Jr., were selected to be part of the UGA Alumni Association's 40 Under 40 Class of 2015. The UGA Alumni Association's 40 Under 40 program recognizes exceptional young alumni who are achieving great success in their professional and personal endeavors. Jill Puente, who participated in Spring 2010, is a marketing manager for Google Fiber, and Arthur Tripp Jr., an alumnus from Spring 2008, is the senior policy advisor for U.S. Congressman David Scott.

Washington Semester Program student Kathleen Wilson named 2015 Truman Scholar

University of Georgia Honors student Kathleen Wilson is one of 58 students nationwide to be named a 2015 Truman Scholar and is UGA's fifth recipient of the scholarship in the past five years.

UGA dedicates residential learning facility in Washington, D.C.

On Thursday, Feb. 26, the University of Georgia dedicated its new permanent residential learning facility in the heart of Capitol Hill. The opening of Delta Hall marks the first time UGA students have been able to live, study and take classes under the same roof while interning in the nation's capital. The building was named in honor of a $5 million grant from the Delta Air Lines Foundation in support of UGA in Washington.

UGA names new Washington, D.C., facility Delta Hall

The University of Georgia has received a commitment for a $5 million grant from the Delta Air Lines Foundation to support UGA in Washington. In recognition of the gift, UGA will name the university's new residential facility in Washington, D.C., Delta Hall.

UGA’s Washington Semester Program welcomes largest, most academically diverse group

Now in its seventh year, the WSP is proud to introduce its largest and most academically diverse group of participants. Twenty-nine students from five colleges are currently living, studying and interning in Washington, D.C., where they have the opportunity to build a professional network and gain concrete work experience. The growth of the program has been aided by the opening of UGA's facility on Capitol Hill, where students live and attend classes.

Historic Building to Become UGA Student Housing

Renovations to UGA's first facility in Washington, D.C. have begun! The University's property, located on the corner of C Street and Massachusetts Avenue, was formerly the headquarters of the American Society for Interior Designers. Come January 2015, the building will house the students of the Washington Semester Program.

Evangeline George Named Deputy Communications Director

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that she has named Evangeline George as her new Deputy Communications Director. She has served on Pelosi’s staff since 2009 and currently serves as Press Secretary. Evangeline participated in the Fall 2008 Washington Semester Program and interned with Congressman John Barrow (D-GA). Congratulations Evangeline!

WSP Student Receives Carnegie Junior Research Fellowship

Yuliya Bila, a fourth-year Honors student and a current Washington Semester Program student at the University of Georgia, has been awarded a Carnegie Junior Research Fellowship. As a junior fellow, Bila will have the opportunity to conduct research for books, co-author journal articles, participate in meetings with high-level officials, contribute to Congressional testimony and organize briefings attended by scholars, journalists and government officials. Yuliya currently is interning with the U.S. Department of State.

President Morehead Establishes Need-Based Scholarship Fund

University of Georgia President Jere W. Morehead is continuing his commitment to students through a personal contribution establishing a need-based scholarship fund, in honor of his parents, designed to help undergraduates study in the nation's capital. Through the scholarship fund, Morehead is paying tribute to the important role his parents have played in his life. The Wade and Virginia Morehead Scholarship Fund will be used to support students with demonstrated financial need who participate in the UGA Washington Semester Program.
