My other answers explain a lot of why I loved the Semester in DC, so I'll just say this: Don DeMaria is a boss.
Participated in DC Semester in Spring 2010, held an internship with NBC News (Meet the Press and the Political Unit). Graduated in May 2011 with a job at CNN in Atlanta. Promoted to the Special Events Unit, where I traveled and covered the 2012 presidential election. Currently still with Special Events in Atlanta.

Why I went:
I had a strong interest in politics and media—no better place to be than DC if that’s the case. Also, the chance to work as an intern in DC is great on a resume, and the chance to network and meet people was a great opportunity.
Favorite spot to visit:
Good Stuff Eatery, maybe? Love their burgers and milkshakes, and their location on the Hill. The Mall was great for pickup football and basketball, and great museums.
Most memorable day:
I was in DC for “Snowpocalypse” or “Snowmagedden,” whichever you prefer. Something like two feet of snow fell, and we were off work for a week. It didn’t stop our group from visiting Ben’s Chili Bowl and walking the abandoned city streets to play in the snow all day and into the night.
Why I'm glad I went:
Great friendships. I have a lot of friends who I know from those four months. I’m in DC a good bit for work, and I love visiting for the reunions we have. We had a great, fun group.
