Jocelyn Frelier, PhD
Program Director
Dr. Jocelyn Frelier joined the University of Georgia in July of 2026 as the Director of the Washington Semester Program. Immediately prior to this role, she served as the Director of the Brown in Washington program at Brown University. She has held roles as a graduate student, faculty member, and administrator at institutions of higher education ranging from a regional comprehensive HSI to large, public and land-grant universities. She was even a lecturer at l’Université de Paris VII for a year, where she learned about higher education in France. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and her Bachelor of Arts with highest distinction and highest honors from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. To her position as Director of the Washington Semester Program, she brings over 15 years of experience in pedagogy and curriculum design.
Every semester, Dr. Frelier tells her students that 18- to 25-year-olds are her favorite demographic. She has spent years researching how to best support students who want to launch purposeful careers and her book, where she shares what she has learned, is forthcoming with Johns Hopkins University Press in 2027.
