Congresswoman and Democrat Louise Slaughter was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1987 to represent what is currently the 25th district of New York that includes her home, Rochester, New York. She serves as the ranking member of the House Committee on Rules and previously chaired this committee. She is passionate about women's rights and diversity and has fought diligently for both of these issues.
