I grew up in Dunwoody, Georgia and never thought I’d end up attending college so close to home. Luckily, attending UGA turned out to be the best 4(ish) years of my life.
Why I went:
My senior year of high school I visited DC a few times and completely fell in love with the city. In no time, I found myself in my junior year at UGA and looking to get a feel for the real world, and the WSP offered me just that.
Favorite spot to visit:
The Capitol Reflecting Pool and Hank’s on the Hill
Most memorable day:
After what seemed like a never ending winter (the kind where it’s snowing on March 25th…) the perfect spring day FINALLY came along in April. Conveniently enough this day fell on the same day that my roommate had tickets to the White House Garden Tours. We toured the gardens, had brunch at Old Ebbitt Grill, and then walked around the other monuments surrounded by the blooming cherry blossoms. It was the epitome of a perfect sightseeing day.
Why I'm glad I went:
Spending a semester in DC completely opened my eyes to the world of politics as well as to the business world. It gave me a new network of people and resources that I could have never found on my own.
