Elbow to Elbow
A student’s internship is the centerpiece of their Washington Semester experience. They provide the opportunity to earn academic credit, develop a student’s professional skills, and connect them to the Washington, DC professional network.
Previous WSP students have interned with:
- Congressional Offices
- Government Agencies
- Law Firms
- Nonprofit Organizations
- Advertising/Public Relations Firms
- News Organizations
- Think Tanks
Upon selection into the Washington Semester, students receive an internship coach from the WSP team. These coaches help the students throughout their internship search. They will provide advice on where to apply based on a student’s personal, political, academic, or career interests, and they may refer students to specific internship sites. Coaches also offer feedback on application materials and help students prepare for interviews if needed.
For a student to receive full credit for an internship, the internship must meet the standards set by the student’s department or college. It is important for each student to communicate with their academic advisor to determine the necessary CRNs and coursework for their internships.
